About Us
The vision for Deaf Transformation came to Lori Colwell in 2018. Based on her own personal experience in 12 step recovery and leadership training, Lori prayed that as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) God would use her personal experiences and access for good in her community.
God answered her prayer and brought together a dedicated volunteer team of three women-Michelle Plummer, a proud 7th generation Deaf woman, Lori Colwell, Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), and Robin Olson, Parent of a Deaf Adult (PODA) to form Deaf Transformation using their combined total of 65 years of personal experience in Christ-centered and step type support groups.
The initial result was an 8 month, 8 step series of Christ-centered, emotional and spiritual recovery and support workshops designed for people within the Deaf Community who use American Sign Language. The leadership team piloted the first closed workshops in 2020, via Zoom, made some modifications, and launched Deaf Transformation in 2021.
In keeping with our Vision we are offering Group Facilitator Training March 27-30, 2025. Feeling led to be a group facilitator? See the application link on the front page of this website.
